    Moving prospects

What is the cost of living in Pennsylvania compared to NJ?

I currently live in New Jersey and I'm considering moving to a more gun-friendly environment.
If anti-gun legislators truly believed that guns kill people, the guns would be on the witness stand and the assailent would be holding the "Exhibit A" sign.

Hard to compare costs - as I do not know about your taxing, sales tax - etc. Sales tax here is IIRC 6%.

My broad opinion would be - cost of living in PA is not too bad even if not the best but - I sure would accept a few odd extra expenses anyways to be able to enjoy way better gun freedom.

If you give an outline of your basic stuff like taxing - maybe us PA folks can be more specific.

I can't tell you about PA, but if moving, We love our guns down here in VA, and you can find ocean front communities to city life, and the mountains. Just a thought.

4my son: thanks, but I can't really move that far. I do like property close to the ocean...

Property tax then seems in an approx ball park area - still tho bound to be variations according to counties.

    A Better Life..

is worth what you're willing to pay for it! Everything in life is 'relative'...

Don't we just rationalize things we really want, anyway? If you can make a living, be thrifty, compromise, and plan ahead...things usually work out!

From a man who has been married for 35+ years, and is now living in his 24th home...life is good...things always work out.

If you don't like the move...move again, nothing is impossible.

I would have rather made a mistake (moving), than wondered (for life) if I should have done it. Yep, there are places I would not pick again, but...we GAINED...with every move.

    OMO...your experiences may be different!

Are there any additional benefits to moving?

Dang, I just used that calc.

If I move back to Valdosta GA, everything is less except for utilities, same with Las Crusas NM (lived in Alamogordo so close enough). Florida was even lower on everything except for Transportation costs (utilities was down on this one).

NV Reno was sky high on everything.

Seems like living anywhere except here in Eugene Oregon is better.

I just used it, too Wayne. From Fairfax, VA to Prescott, AZ... housing costs 48% less. Wow. Just.... wow!

Weather, milder winters might be nice.

Jobs, Monster would probably help, if nothing else, it might give you an idea of the availability of your particular field in any given location, night help you narrow down a couple of cities to look a little more in depth.

I'm into professional security, preferably armed. I'm also into all kinds of target shooting, but not hunting.

Hence my sudden decision to consider moving.
