Its a darn shame that these "playful youths" have to learn such harsh life lessons.

Growing up in the Great Lakes region (steel belt and automotive manufacturing belt) in the 50's and 60's, I was privileged to know many Walt Kowalski's. They were hard working, hard drinking family men who would give you the shirt off their back, or take their .02 out of your hide if you crossed them. They were plain talking and opinionated. They had no idea what being politically correct was, and frankly didn't give a damn. By today's standards they are dinosaurs from another era. Maybe, just maybe, it's time to bring the dinosaurs back.

There was no shortage of these guys in the Steel belt either. I was practically raised by them and I'm happy to report they're still around, too. I remember being a kid and always thinking "I want to grow up and be like these guys".
