Guys, need some input on flashlight evaluation

I teach electronics and microcontrollers at a technical community college and my Projects Class is going design a project to evaluate handheld flashlights and batteries, especially tactical - Brinkman, Maglight, Surefire, Streamlight, etc.

We will measure the lights' relative brightness, battery life and discharge characteristics. We should be able to produce discharge charts for light and battery characteristics since the data will be collected by and stored in a computer.

Anyway, now Iím looking for your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, flashlights to test, etc.

    OK, good idea.

I have a Surefire X200 and a Streamlight TL-3 LED; they output about 65 lumens or greater. The TL-3 LED is supposed to last for 2 hours, the X200 for 1 hour; we'll see. Plus, we'll see how much actual light is available over the discharge cycle and how the light "dies".

I failed to mention that we are going to do both continuous "on-til-death" (of the light that is), and cycles of 5 minutes on and 55 minutes off.

Did you have any particular LED light in mind?
