    Small note of cheer

Thought this was worth a mention - last year plus my son has been with a company that actually treats it's employees as humans. Not like the last place he was at where even having a number might have seemed good! Admittedly no guns inside but OK in car in parking lot.

So - coupla weeks ago he gets his Xmas bonus - based on performance and time in company - pretty good at around $2k - oh and in summer there was a $500 mini bonus thrown his way.

But yesterday, he called me on way back from a meeting to tell how the company had $200k ''spare'' end of year - well, a chunk that needed written off - so instead of the top brass keeping it for themselves - they split into $1k each even, for all 200 employees.

I thought that was impressive - if they had kept the bucks no one would have probably known, but they chose to share.

I am impressed - comes at a good time too as my son is having a new house built and needs all the funds he can get. Nice to know there are still good folks around.

Sounds like a company that wants to keep it's employees content.

Happy employees make hard workers. Hard workers make a successful company. :)

Indeed - and it works! But try telling that to some of the companies I have come across!

Some of the worst cases IMO deserve ZERO loyalty - that needs earned and my son's company has succeeded real well doing that.

It seems that the larger the company the less they care about the employee. CEO's of large companys only seem to care about how they can get rich.

Nice To Hear Stories Like This...

The company must be a great place to work...

And, I hope that your son realizes how few places like that are actually around...

He sure knows he is lucky - despite lots of pressure and sometimes some extra hours - often - he is part of a good team. Compared with his last company - it is Nirvana!

I'd like to think he is on solid ground and at 30 coming up, as close to a job for life as is possible these days. Nothing is ever guaranteed of course.

Great news! Too many in top corporate positions don't realize what a positive impact such a degree of selflessness has on employees. You can't put a price on loyalty, but employees are certainly more willing to go the extra mile when the company will 'invest' back into them.
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.
