Is it just me? (kind of long)
I ran a service call this afternoon. Lady called in, simple break/fix call to swap a hard drive in her computer and start the recovery CD process.
She calls me this morning to confirm I'm still coming out. She tells me "My roommate will be asleep so I left the front door unlocked just go on in"
My first thought was to tell her my parole officer told me that isn't allowed anymore  but I didn't.
I show up 15 minutes early. Door is indeed unlocked, 1st floor apartment, no one around. I knock, no answer, so I open the front door SLOWLY and say in a rather loud voice "COMPUTER TECH"...no answer.
I go in, go to her home office, install the hard drive, get on the phone to close the ticket, THEN her roommate opens his door and says "are you here?" I answer him, pickup my gear and leave. I could have EASILY made it out with anything I wanted
They don’t know me from Adam. I’ve never met them, all I was until today was a voice on the phone. I doubt he would remember enough to tell anyone anything about my appearance, clothing, face, anything.
Why in the WORLD would someone leave their door UNLOCKED all day and tell a complete stranger to “just go on in”
Is it just my “normal” level of paranoia and general suspiciousness of people in general or (my thought) is it just another run in with “The Sheep”
Maybe Tom Hanks Summed It Up...
"Stupid is, as stupid does!"
The old days are gone...even in small towns!
Sad times we're in...lock 'n' load...lock the doors and load the guns...
