Reminds me of the movie "Escape from New York" Citizens Gone Wild in the streets! You'd think they would either Learn, or run out of bad guys.

They should put an overpass over the entire Chicago Area so honest hard working decent Folks could drive over that cesspool without having to slow down.

I grew up in Gary, Indiana, just across the border from Chicago and "Crook" County back in the 40s and 50s. Left in 1960 after I graduated from high school. I use to spend some time in Chicago back then, but there is NOTHING that could get me to go back to Chicago today! Last time I was even through Chicago was in 2003 and in 2008 when I rode through to go up to Milwaukee for Harley's 100th and 105th "birthday" celebrations. On my way home, I rode quite a few miles out of my way to bypass Chicago to the west and then south. Illinois is a pretty nice state with the exception of Chicago. Too bad the rest of the state can't secede from "Crook" County and leave Chicago as an entitiy all by it's crooked politician controlled lonesome!

OK, all of those shootings and not a single one involved any of our newly licensed brothers and sisters who are lawfully carrying. IL was forced to comply with the 2-A and the sky didn't fall.

In fact, while tragic and with clear negative implications for innocent bystanders, I am reading that most of the violence is BG's killing BG's.

After all of the hype, people are now legally carrying in IL and it has not increased the violence. And, I would anticipate that it will ultimately help curb the violence as lawful citizens decide to stand up and fight for themselves.

But... but ... but there was just a thread about how crime is down in Chicago.... it can't be true...

    Which, can't be true?

I find it ironic that people keep talking about Chicago and per capita it isn't even in the top 10 of gun crimes.

Statistics lie. FBI statistics go per capita by county, not by City or Municipality, ON PURPOSE. Cook County is one of the most populous counties in the United States. If the City of Chicago was considered by itself it would be in the top five (if not #1) all the time every time. A city like St. Louis, which is it's own county, and only has a population of about 350,000 makes it seem far more dangerous on paper than it is in fact, but don't let accounting foibles ruin your argument!

You must be sent to one of Chairman O's re-education camp, as you fail to understand the "TRUTH" is what the press tell you! Logic cannot apply in a socialist world! Only the ruling elite will know the truth!

    Thumbs down

We all know that it is the guns that are at fault for this violence.

The guns have a mind and will of their own and shoot people at random just because they can do it.

If we can just get rid of those damn guns all will be sunshine and lollypops in the windy city.

And that should be encouraged. Obviously there's not enough cops to control them. Reduce the numbers to a more manageable level.

Amazing how simple it is to do a drive-by on a park full of children. I'll bet the psychotic felons in question are right proud of themselves. Sadly, it's even money as to whether one or more of their parents gives a damn.

Imagine the contrast to a park full of folks carrying 100%, in which dozens of people were threatened by someone coming along to do them harm. Imagine how much more capable of surviving such folks would be.

A "duh" moment, one would hope. Of course, the anti's will run with this situation without thinking very deeply on it. They'll see the blood and gore, and the PR value of dead kids, and that'll be all they need to know. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

As for the felons in question: may they be fed to the gators at the local zoo, once found, hung by the toes until absolutely, positively dead.

Some of the most restrictive guns laws that exist are in Chicago. Yet the police chief blamed the violence on a need for tougher gun laws. What an imbecile.

Article: How Chicago Became 'Chiraq' @ TheDailyBeast.

    From the article:

But Comey had little to say about what Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy recognizes as the core problem.

“Until we do something about guns, don’t expect things to change overnight,” McCarthy said at a press conference that same day.

McCarthy noted that Chicago cops have seized 1,500 illegal guns so far this year, but the people caught with the weapons are all too often back on the street all too soon.

“It’s like running on a hamster wheel,” McCarthy said of the effort to grapple with the problem. “We’re drinking from a fire hose, seizing these guns, and people are back out on the street. They’re not learning that carrying a firearm is going to have a serious impact on their lives.”

The felons have learned from this insane game of "poker" the hirelings are playing with our lives: that having weaponry trumps having your twiddling fingers and prayer.

The citizens have yet to learn that this insane game of "poker" is costing us all: that being unarmed and relying on hope and prayer for deliverance isn't a plan of any consequence, and it only plays into the hands of the most-violent predators in our midst by presenting to them a defenseless citizenry.

At some point, hopefully the people will wake up before they're all slaughtered as the defenseless sheep they've (so far) opted to be.

Until we do something about violent felons' chances of becoming what they are and acting out against innocents, we'll have zero chance of stemming the tide. Either erase them when caught and convicted, or erase the influencing factors. Erasing the means of defensive protection from all citizens in the vain hope it'll impact violent felons who will be laughing in their sleeves at the opportunity to have a free-fire zone of victims isn't going to work. Never has, never will. The solution lies elsewhere ... not with disarming upstanding citizens.
