    Fed-Ex Shooting in Georgia

Emerging situation - 6 hurt to varying degrees, shooter dead. In my neck of the woods, Fed-Ex is a criminal protection zone (gun free zone).

Six hurt, suspect dead in shooting at FedEx facility in Georgia

ETA: Cops are saying the shooter had a shotgun. Below is a witness statement. The cops, based on the way he couched his comment, may not be releasing everything vis-ŕ-vis the gun or guns at this point.

FedEx clerk Liza Aiken said she was working inside when she heard something, dropped, looked to her left and saw the gunman.

"He had bullets strapped across his chest like Rambo, a huge assault rifle and he had a knife," Aiken said in a parking lot where employees were gathering not far from their workplace. Before she could continue, a woman wearing a FedEx jacket told Aiken to stop talking and led her away.

Or maybe the fedex clerk has no clue what an assault rifle really looks like? Methinks that much more likely, since she wasn't smart enough to not talk to the news and had to be led away...

When it comes to the “media” a Ruger 10-22 is a lethal, bullet spraying, high-powered assault rifle capable of killing dozens in just seconds.

What exactly is a "huge assault rifle"?

Sad that the people got hurt, looks like nobody but the bg was killed. It may have been a suicide mission on his part and he just wanted to look bad to the bone when killed. With that much fire power if he really wanted to kill somebody it's hard to believe he was that bad of a shot but only wanted to wound them. Just a guess of course.

Just a few miles from my house. Hope all the injured recover quickly and fully.

I wonder if Fed Ex allows legally licensed folks to carry at work?

In this particular instance, it is now being reported as a shotgun.

They are saying now that he “explosive” devices with him he did not use.

Cobb County Police spokesman Dana Pierce says the gunman who opened fire and wounded six on Tuesday morning had "molotov cocktails."
    EarthLink - U.S. News

The thing if the “reporter had just a modicum of sense he would have found out a Molotov Cocktail is an incendiary device and not an explosive.

If FedEx is a 'gun-free zone', it sure didn't keep the suspect, who police identified as a 'package handler', from bringing his weapon into the facility.

    Fed Ex shooting

In one of the photos I have seen posted of the scene in front of the fex ex facility, there is a clearly visible NO GUNS sign posted above one of the Policeman. Oddly enough, that photo has vanished and I can no longer find it. I do not have alot of hope that the media will debate the utter uselessness of these signs that seem to be all the rage now a days. Thoughts and prayers to the 6 who were injured.

Hmmm, The theaters were the kid killed all those Colorado folks had similar signs. Think anyone in the news media will take notice (hint, NO). I wonder if Sandy Hook had them? Or was it just assumed because it was a school?

The anti's are already making a fuss... But not because of the sign...But because it happened in Kennesaw, GA. One of the first localities in the country where all residents are "required" by ordinance to have a firearm at home... And of course, that he used an "Assault rifle."

I'm glad he didn't use any of the Molotov cocktails he was reportedly carrying.

I counted 38 LEO in the picture. Unless the Kennesaw PD has a large force I reckon that leaves just Andy and Barney to search for the suspect.
