BAD - 6 year old sent to school with a loaded handgun in his bag

According to the 6 year old, he had no idea the gun was in his bag and told a teacher as soon as he found it. Charges are pending against an adult who lives in the same home.

The part that kills me is that the school a) is still considering disciplinary action against the child, and b) is outlawing backpacks for all students K-4 through the end of the year "because of children who come to school with a knife in their bags leftover from a weekend camping or fishing excursion" (not my grammar).

Interesting. Someone failed badly for this to have happened. I wish we had more info; I suppose will will, in time.

Regarding the home search, I'd like to know if it was done with a warrant. The story doesn't say if permission was given or if any residents were home at the time of the search. I'm not sure I see Probable Cause for police to enter without either one being obtained.

All they are doing is creating an environment where kids will stop saying anything in fear of being punished for literally doing nothing wrong.

A loose gun in a backpack is not a good thing to be throwing around and stuffing a tight locker. I'd much rather the student say something so the firearm can be secured than to have it go off while squeezing it between his gym shoes and school books.

Not a story about self-defense by armed good guys. Moved to off-topic.

    Stop sending backpacks to school?

I've got one for ya. How about we just stop sending kids to school, that way they won't get hurt at school.

We're getting a little silly. A child is hundreds of times more likely to die in a car accident on the way to school than they are to be a victim of violence in school.

I'm all for this. At least school as we've perverted the concept.

Was it a 1911? Or a crumby Glock?
Firing a suppressed is on my Bucket List.

I'm just a spoke in the wheel but not a big deal.

America...a Constitutional Republic. NOT a democracy as the liberals would have us believe.

    Good question!

If it was a 1911 I don't really see the issue. A rusty old gun that only holds a few rounds and fires big slow slugs that can't even go through a thin frying pan. But if it was a Glock...

(Just kidding. I'm a 1911 nut but I had to take the opportunity when I saw it :) )
