    The Sportsmen's Zone

Some other than rational game rules and regulations:

Early in the 20th century, city officials in Fairbanks tried to make it illegal to give alcoholic beverages to moose to stop a local tavern owner from getting his pet moose drunk. They were unable to create a law that would keep all moose sober, so the officials passed an ordinance that forbade moose from using public sidewalks. Now, without incurring a nasty sidewalk violation, moose can't make it to the pubs.

According to Arizona State Law, anyone who "hunts, pursues, takes, kills or destroys" a camel is going to get on the bad side of a Warden. Camels were shot out of Arizona a long time ago.

It is illegal to walk across the Minnesota-Wisconsin border with a duck on your head.

In Oklahoma you can be fined for making ugly faces at a dog.

In Illinois, no matter how well your retriever did on pheasants, it is illegal to give the pooch a lit cigar.

In Florida it is illegal to have sexual relations with a porcupine.

In Georgia, you cannot keep any native species of lizard or snake as a pet except, venomous ones.

In Ohio it is illegal to hunt whales on Sunday.

If you are passing through Tennessee sometime and see a whale, you needn't pull over before you shoot, you can't shoot any game from a moving automobile other than whales.

You know that is good info to have. I live in West Tennessee and hardly a morning goes by where I don't see one of those darn wild whales running along the interstate. Tomorrow morning, I'm blasting the first one I see.

Maybe we should call you Captain Ahab.

They need a law for that

Some laws seem to be just dumb.

Ya know, those Ohio whales also seem to dissappear on Sundays, just like the big old bucks you see all year and then don't see as soon as hunting season comes around. I saw a couple of em walkin around campus today actually. Somebdoy better tell all the frat boys round here to stop whalin' on saturday nights so they don't harpoon one on Sunday morning.

Lawmakers need to spend more time passing useful laws like these. It'll keep them too busy to pass more laws that we don't need.
