    Virgil Smith - Pot Fiend

“Hello, is this the Sheriff’s Office?”

“Yes. What can I do for you?”

“I’m calling to report ‘bout my neighbor Virgil Smith....He’s hidin’ marijuana inside his firewood! Don’t quite know how he gets it inside them logs, but he’s hidin’ it there.”

“Thank you very much for the call, sir.”

The next day, the Sheriff’s Deputies descend on Virgil’s house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave. Shortly, the phone rings at Virgil’s house.

“Hey, Virgil! This here’s Floyd....did the Sheriff come?”

    “Did they chop your firewood?”

    “Merry Christmas, buddy!”

    This is a true story..........

My wife comes from southwest Virginia, the area is rural & mountainous. The people there raise tobacco, cows & other typical farm crops.

In the past they even had plenty of moonshiners (one of my wife's great uncles who was a moonshiner was killed by a revenuer, not for moon shining...he was sleeping with the revenuer's wife...but that's another story).

A few years ago, the police were using helicopters with UV guns to find marijuana crops in the hills. They came across a patch, that was being grown in with some tobacco. They contacted the county sheriff's office who then formed a group to go investigate. Sure enough there amongst the crop was some marijuana. One of the deputies said that he knew whose patch it was, so off they went to arrest the miscreant.

The went to the man's home & rousted him. He claimed he didn't have any MJ growing in his field & demanded that they show him.

They all packed up & went back to the field.......when they got there, all the plants had been cut & removed! evidence as to who did it. The LEOs had neglected to leave anybody behind to guard the field.

The worst part was, when the man they rousted saw where the field was, told the LEOs it wasn't EVEN HIS FIELD, it belonged to someone else.
