    Sauna carry?

I have weekly sauna sessions during which I carry in a belly band covered by my towel.

My club is silent on carrying in the sauna, so it's okay to carry in the sauna.

However, I have developed a rash and my gun is getting rusty no matter how often I clean it.

Anyone have this problem while sauna carrying? What did you do to address it but still stay armed?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I can offer an alternative, but it involves a great deal of training, or else truly excessive application of Froglube during cleaning.

To tell you the truth, I did not know that "sauna carry", was a thing. Im in a part of TN that gets more rain than does Seattle.

So I know something about keeping guns from rusting. Id guess that you have maybe 3 problems.

    1. The hot & humid environment in the sauna.

    2. The belly band itself, in combination with the hot & humid air in the sauna, AND your body sweat.

    3. The type of "oil" that you are using.

#2 Is, I think what is really killing you. You might as well start thinking in terms of having your weapon exposed to SALT WATER, because of the body sweat that it is almost certainly exposed to.

If you leave with a damp belly band, it only enhances the wet salty exposure. I also imagine that just the act of inserting & drawing your weapon removes exterior "oil" from your weapon, leaving it more exposed to damaging elements.

I have really good results with remoil as far as rust prevention goes. I have a fair number of guns, and some of them have been subjected to all day down pours, and none have a spec of rust on them.

Also, I use BREAKFREE CLP. Like I say none of my weapons has rust...but I still like the remoil stuff for moisture exposure.

Heres the deal; You have to remove your weapon from that belly band, and reapply any "oil" type substance to it, if you hope to keep it from rusting. And Id wash that belly band out to get the sweat out of it. Thats a sure fire rust causing substance.

    Hope that helped.

Hm. I applaud your dedication, but the steam room and shower is one situation where I'd probably go without. Can't recall the last time I strapped it on in such places. Kudos, bro'. I'm impressed.

Do you wash your belly band? If not, then try washing it to get the sweat off from all of those sauna sessions, and then wash it after each session.

The 1996 film The Fan has an ugly scene in the sauna. A bit ol' fixed-blade gets whipped out and shoved into the femoral artery of the victim.

Your sauna must be in a rough neighborhood.

Sounds like the place is a bit gay... AND in a bad neighborhood. Sheds a whole new light on it if every guy around him is a potential... Cough, cough... Threat lol.

OP, if you must keep going there, try a good quality polymer gun in a zip lock bag, inside a second towel you fold up and keep right next to you.
