A day in L.A. Ca.

Apparently two teens swiped a car about 4:00 am and the boys in blue caught up with them. One ran off the other being the driver backed the car into the cops car. The cop shot about 10 rounds and the 13 year old is dead. The community is up in arms for the cops shooting the 13 year old. I often wondered when these young people decide to carry out a dangerious deed do they check with their parents, brothers or sisters or grandparents. I don't plant new flowers unless everyone agrees they will look good and will like where I plan to put them. Why in the world would anyone think doing a high profile deed maynot get you killed? The LA Chief of Police(COP) says the city has volience and is dangerious!
Later that evening some guy decides to shoot up the city with cops being right nearby; they give chase and the guy is doing 110mph on the freeway and reports say he may have someone in the trunk. About ten in the evening he is passing Irvine CA and is headed towards Mexico(do you think he's Mexican)?? Many cops in the chase.
Now these are only two items I caught on the news so you can guess what else goes on in the city run by democrats(no ccw's given to normal people).
I don't go to LA, its crowded and the traffic is really bad.

I've only been to LA twice in my life....felt EXTREMELY claustrophobic on both occasions :crazy:

I grew up in LA. During the '60's I used to walk down the street in Torrance, Ca with my Crossman model 610 .22 cal pellet rifle hunting jackrabbits, birds and anything else I might shoot at. Never in all the years I did it was I bothered by police or anyone else, in fact the few police I encountered usually made some comment as to the effect of "I see you got that rabbit, huh?" Try that nowadays and you'd have a SWAT team all over you.
I left LA in 1994 to move to Las Vegas because of all the anti-gun legislation as well as the increasing probability that I'd have to shoot some punk because of my working in the security field.
I like it better in Nevada. Here it is legal to own any weapon I should desire and that includes fully automatic as well as suppressed weapons. When I first arrived here one of the first things someone told me, while looking in a gun shop at a suppressed Swedish K was, "Yes you can own that, you're back in America now son."

I'm from Chicago. I've been to LA. I don't intend to visit either without an armed escort ever again.

To follow up on the 13 year old being killed, it is a very sorrowfull event and I approach even talking about it with deep respect. The FBI is envolved in the case now. Letters to the Orange County Register reflect the community needs to understand the boy did wrong stealing a car and backing it towards an officer. The mayor, city council and the whole city is now in planning stages how new rules about officers shooting at cars may be changed. Will rules about stealing cars be changed???

Do these "kids" not know that there actions can have consequences? I think the officer that shot the little reprobate should sue his family for not controlling him. Thirteen year olds should be under the watchful supervision of their parents and be held responsible for every action they commit that is wrong. He wasn't an innocent little child, he was a criminal. We need to state that emphatically over and over until we all get it through our thick skulls. Criminals are dealt with in serious ways and it is NOT the fault of society that these little creatures die when they venture off the path of good and onto the path of evil. It is society's responsibility to deal with them. Sometimes it will cost them their life.

I think some readers have expressed the feelings of Kahrman pretty well. Most people would say hey, don't go out 4:00am and steal cars it can be very dangerious.

I don't think this could be said any better, really. I would add that the BGs (kids or not) think they are pretty safe pulling this kind of crap because it is so hard for honest citizens to have (and use) guns to protect themselves and their property. And for the record I AM one of those that believe my property is worth taking a life over if we are talking about something I have worked hard and gone without other things to achieve or acquire and the life is that of a criminal. And I won't apologize for it on darned bit. Now, that being said, I probably wouldn't take a life over property because that would mean I would be spending some serious time (in jail) with the very type of person I detest. I am sick to death of us being so "tolerant", "forgiving" and accepting excuses for these people's behavior.

Well to update everyone about the LA police panel new shootings rules. LA is in the middle of a mayors race with about 4 contenders so the most important item is to insure the LAPD has a shooting policy in place relative to shooting or not at moving cars. I am getting my information from the Orange County Register 2/17/5. The city Police Commission on Wed approved a revised policy that will limit when Officers can shoot at moving vehicles. This was because a 13 year kid got killed when fleeing the with a stolen car. The revised policy prohibits officers from firing at a moving vehicle unless the officer or another individual is threatend with deadly force other than the moving vehicle.(uh huh). An officer threatened bu an oncoming vehicle shall move out of its path instead of discharging a firearm at it or any of its occupants the policy said.
My comments; I hear no policy about stealing cars!!! Maybe this is a money maker for someone to train car theifs about the law.(just kidding). So there you have it gents.

I hope they don't wind up getting some good cops killed with this.
