<Yawn> I'd rather have a CJ-6 or CJ-8. I guess it looks cool though. Just give it a Hemi and I'll be happy.

Looks o.k., wonder how well it would actually perform off road?

I think there was the Scrambler (Jeep looking) or the Comanchee (Jeep Cherokee looking cab with a truck bed). This one looks more like the Scrambler.

Well, Jeep announced a few months ago that they decided not to build the Gladiator as they felt it would not be a profitable vehicle. I don't understand the logic there.
Anyone who wants to read a board like this one but dedicated to the Gladiator can go to
www.jeepgladiator.org and join up. Lots of good Jeep people over there. I am sure there are some crossover members besides me.
Anyone else want to own one of these babies?
Well, if you want to know how I feel about j/Jeeps, look at my screen name. If you know anything about Jeeps, would know what a YJ is. For those that don't, it was the Jeep Wrangler year models from '87-'96.
I was excited when Jeep intro'ed the Gladiator. I was really looking forward to its debut.
Bud, the Jeep that you are possibly thinking about was in fact called the Gladiator. Put the two side-by-side, and the "new" Gladiator would look like a scaled down, modernized version. A lot of people think that the Gladiator was the test platform for the LJ or Unlimited chassis.
I think they look great, and would buy one if I could afford a new car payments right now. Hopefully, Jeep will bring this out in '08.

I think it looks pretty cool, but the 4x4 pickup market saturated. I think if they made it a 4 door, it would do better.
As for the off road questions, the approach angle looks to be the same as a Wrangler and, well.... its a Jeep.

Not really a fan of Jeep any more. IMO just not built like they used to be. I'd rather have an old Toyota FJ40. However, if there was an auto maker that was going to mass produce a concept vehicle then I wish Ford would build this one:

However, with four kids and a wife I won't be able to get something this small until they have all gone off to college. Of course, by that time I won't even be able to afford a Ford Pinto

I saw it at the car show here last year.
Not the vehicle for me (too much vehicle!) but it was sure fun to look at.
