Texas Darwin Candidate
Bonham has its own new Darwin Award Candidate:
Michael Lee Williams, age 28, alleged methamphetamine user and burglar, and apparent overall ner'do well, was electrocuted Saturday January 27, 2007. He was attempting to steal copper wire from a power pole drop to a meter loop.
When warned by his mother not to go stealing copper wire due to the danger of electrocution, he responded, "Mom........I know what I'm doing".
This early in the year, he's probably close to the top of the list
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."

3 fatalities and 2 seriously burned that I know of, while trying to steal copper from electric poles or sub-station equipment in KY in 2006.
We might be working on the top five of the awards list here!

Given the level of stupidity we seem to be approaching, next it will be some poor underpriveleged individual killed while trying to snort the white lines on I80.

Bonham is my home-town
Used to be a quite peaceful place until the meth-labs and criminal element moved in. I'm glad the culling continues, wish the pace would pick-up a bit. Maybe we need to have an open season on dealers..., no limit....kinda thing.

I have always been fascinated by the "Darwin" types. What on earth can make someone think that it's a good idea to try to take copper from a live circuit?? And why are these types always the one's that "know what they're doing"??
I'm drawn to these stories like a moth to a flame! Ha!!

I think that is the third most popular statement behind "Hey y'all, watch this!" and "Here, hold my beer!"
