    WOW!

I can see and hear this from my house. Very pink sky.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4561975.html

A major explosion caused a fire that covered three square miles of rural area in northwest Harris County, about two miles north of FM 529 and two miles west of Fry Rd.

The fire is near Black Horse ranch, according to Lt. John Martin, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Department said.

A captain with the department near the scene reported that he is about a quarter-mile away from the blaze, "and it is too hot to get any closer,'' Martin said.

The "intense heat'' is impeding emergency vehicles from getting to the scene, Martin said.

Martin said they do not know what cause the explosion and fire, but that officials are speculating it may be a gas explosion.

Barbara Bayless, a resident of the 6800 block of Eagle Ridge said that she heard "a loud explosion that shook my house'' at about 6:30 p.m.

Bayless said that a neighbor told her the fire appeared to be near Cy-Springs High School, where a junior high school is under construction.

"It was so loud that all of the car alarms went off,'' Bayless said. "Now you can hear this giant whooshing sound like a jet engine.''

"It is still just burning,'' Bayless said. "It's bright orange out there.''

"I put my hand on the front door, and it wasn't vibrating as much as it was just a little while ago. I still see the flickering of the color from the fire.''

"It is still making that jet engine sound,'' Bayless said at about 7:20 p.m. "It just got bright again, it was slowing down. You can kind of see it getting dim and getting brighter. We are just trying to stay indoors.''

The way the wind was blowing no chance to bug out even at about 15 miles away. Been having 30 MPH winds all day. It was like a 747 having engine problems low level right over my house. Natural gas blowout I think.

Has to be a Natural Gas pipeline

The article said a third party bulldozer hit an El Paso pipeline. El Paso operates Natural Gas pipelines around the country. Their cross country lines are in the neighborhood of 18-inches in diameter or larger. It will probably die off once they get the nearest stations' valves shut down to eliminate the fuel.
