I've heard the joke...said it myself, and have been guilty of living up to the stereotype....trust me, sir....I know the joke well. Heck, a couple of Vermont SP troopers (jokingly) got on the case of a coworker during a search warrant that cops eating donuts was a stereotype after we offered them some. (That was funny!)
The truth is, I miss the Krispy Kreme store that was at the base of the North Tower of the WTC....we were donated cases of donuts at one FBI location I worked during PENTTBOMB investigation....after a while, no one was eating any of them....it was nice to get them sent to us.

I told my relief one morning that donuts cover a multitude of sins.
Granted we are just a state security detail so the sterotype doesn't apply as much (it may actually be worse)
