I just want to say to any members that live there or have family and friends there that I hope everything is being done to make your situation better tonight. Hopefully nobody here was personally involved.
Here in middle TN we thought we were under the gun from the same storm today, they let the kids out at lunchtime in a lot of places.
In the end it seems it passed us by yet again.
Sorry that it was at someone else's expense.

I agree.
We were told yesterday that the storms would be bad here in West TN when they came through today but they were much less intense than the weather people thought they were going to be.
So to everyone in the effected areas, we hope you are Ok and any problem or injuries from the storms are short lived.

Bad storms are moving through Georgia as I type this. I heard that 15 deaths were at a High School when the roof collapsed. Horrible news.

Well, I actually live here (20 min away).....; me and mine are all fine, but we are in shock over these events, and still in the dark as to who actually lost their sons/daughters.... scanning thru the internet is kinda helping me get thru the time of wait and see....

Terrible News...
I work in a high school...and something of this nature is going to have some 'long term' effects on students, families, and the entire community...
Healing here...will be a very long road!

I heard of all the devastation and loss of life with a heavy heart earlier. I can but try and imagine the chaos and grief.
Mother nature can be seemingly so cruel to us small beings - there is a severe disparity of scale when comparing us and our relatively feeble stuctures - with the immense power of the weather.
I hope not to hear of more tragedies today or anytime soon.

From what I have seen of the destruction here in Alabama we were fortunate there were not more deaths. The last count I saw was 18, but there could still be more in Enterprise. Our area was almost untouched except for a pretty severe thunder storm about 5:30pm. We are about 40 miles north of Miller's Ferry and 125 miles north west of Enterprise.
One of the student workers in my wife's office at the college is from Enterprise. She knows for sure that her parents are alright, but as of about an hour ago still had no word on other family members and friends.

Isn't Enterprise around the Dothan area? Seems like I remember going through it on my vacation travels to the Gulf Coast.

35 miles or so east of Dothan. Ft. Rucker is in Enterprise.

Well it is a very pretty part of the country down that way and I hate that it happened to good folks. My prayers go out for all of the people down in L.A.

My prayers go out to these folks. I've been in their shoes and it brings back some rough memories. It seems so much worse if kids are involved. Hope all those here are OK.

Yeah...mine too... Especially since one of the next school districts over is using one of our products that effectively puts the EAS(Emergency Alert System), among other things (like the Amber Alerts), in each individual classroom. Maybe if we can get enough of these out there they might stand a chance at heading for cover. We had our tragedy last year with our field office in NOLA. Thankfully none of our folks were badly hurt.
