Since I've seen her in person, I'd say she's more like 63 inches tall... :p

Well, my middle name isn't Thumbelina, but I have been called "runt."

Now, all of you who know what piece of brass that belongs to, don't tell just yet. :tongue (2

The gun has a muzzle velocity of 2,800 feet per second and a range of approximately 30,100 yards.

    Great Photo

I'm trading in my .45s for something a little heavier...
and I want 2,800 feet per second!

No problem retrieving that spent brass!

This is the caliber gun that Clint Smith said he wanted to defend his home. As I recall the quote, he said. "I prefer something that needs a lanyard to fire!!

Betty I'm sending my guess as to what this is in a PM.

The projectile for a 16" is bigger than that and they use bagged propellant...the size of the opening looks to be in the area of 10" probably from the guns of a cruiser. The Alaska and Guam built in 1944 are listed as having 9 12’ guns, the next size smaller listed are 8” guns but that looks larger than 8”.

It appears that the 12" guns of the Alaska and Guam used bagged propellant as well. The opening of that case looks to be bigger than 8” (but then again how big is Betty), need to research shore battery guns I guess.

Looks to be maybe 8"....5"38 and 5"54 are much smaller....16" uses powder bags, don't know about 12" and 14". Trying to recall if cruisers used automatic firing 6" and 8". My SWAG is 8".
