Britain is now so crazy I am appalled.

    I'm ex-British, now a US citizen.
The longer I stay away from that weird little island the more I am glad that I left. I still like British people, but the rules they are under are crazy.
For example, this story appeared in today's papers there.

To cut a long, crazy story short...

A Police Chief Inspector was given a Swiss Army knife as a retirement present by his colleagues.
He accidentally left it in his washbag and boarded a flight to Spain.
    The knife was confiscated.
Ok, post 9.11 I can follow that logic, exceptions shouldn't be made.
After his vacation he goes to his ex-colleagues of 20 years at the Police Station where he was Chief to ask for the knife back.
    They arrest him.
Nine months and $20,000 of public money later he is acquitted.
I'm not sure if he ever saw the knife again.

His MP (Local Politician) is quoted as saying, "the case was an example of the law being an ass".

I know it's easy to laugh at them for being so PC that they have lost all rights to sanity but it especially hurts me, my extended family still live there, in absolute fear as the society slides into chaos.

Not really sure how accurate this is, so I'm going to ask the couple former Brits on here.

Did the British citizens basically let this happen or what? Do people really like all the excess restrictions and regulations?

    Rant shared - believe me!

Most of my family is gone now but my daughter and her husband and lil boy are still there and I really worry for them at times. They see some of the idiocy but not all - and when I mention stuff to her when we talk, she continues to be appalled, altho she does regularly groan when seeing news and reading papers.

Really does seem little hope short of a revolution!!! I am sure in UK there should be a new, substitute term for law enforcement too ........ maybe something like ''criminal protection department''

That means they can concentrate on abusing the good guys better.

    Saw your post Sammy ..
Do people really like all the excess restrictions and regulations?
Many seem to suck it up - many also moan about it but - seeing as they vote for crap whichever way they go they are stuck with it. Add too the ''creeping incrementalism'' aspect - whereby changes occur slowly in bits - but it is time they woke up to where things have gotten right now. It'll go on getting worse.

    (All sound uncomfortably familiar???)

The source, the Daily Mail, is not known for fabricating stories. They do have an agenda but it does not include lying like some of the press there.

IMO the average man in Britain is poorly represented by his Politicians. There is a lot of interference from the European Union (the EU tried to ban bent bananas and actually did ban pints of beer).

It's a mess, people think they voted for a safer society, they think a ban on knives and guns will facilitate that. Then, as we all know, the criminals and thugs get them anyway and reign over the situation.

It is sad and an example we should use to protect our Bill of Rights

Thanks for the information. Sounds like they've been voting for the lesser of two evils for a while longer than us and it shows. It seems like every month holds some new almost unbelievable story about what Britain is doing to her citizens. Before long a revolution is going to be the only way for them to get some freedom back.

If Queen Hillary is voted in we could be in the same situation. If you don't vote you are giving your rights away.

I'm a UK citizen and a Canadian citizen.. my parents (UK ex pats) ask why I would never want to go and live in the UK... duh!

Things here (US) look like they are getting bad, especially for us if HR1022 get the AYE's, it's a foot in the door, I'm not a sunshine lollipops kinda guy... I'm thinking Ruby Rigde/Waco stuff is coming and it scares the crap out of me. And there aint a thing I can do.

I find it easier and easier to not miss my home country, and wish acts of serious violence on some of those there still.
