I liked Gladiator but, this movie is MUCH different than Gladiator and better IMHO. :) Unless you dislike CGI.

About 20 of us went from work last Friday... I enjoyed it, I knew it wasn't going to be a documentary.

Arguably the best movie I've ever seen. Definitely the best action movie I have seen. Some people complain that the storyline is too shallow, but it's a movie about a specific battle based upon a graphical novel. What do you really expect here? Also heard complaints about the violence, but imo it was right on for the time period.

Must be good, the Iranian president is complaining!

    I liked:
    The action!
The actors were top notch and not too famous to be distracting.
It was by the creators of "Sin City" but they left out the 2D cartoony stuff
The violence was mature and had a purpose
    Strong leading woman
that it was based on a true story.

    I DIDNT like:
It kept reminding me of other (some better) films (LOTR, Gladiator, Braveheart)
    The CG WOLF! :p
I wanted a little more documentary, but maybe the DVD will have a history channel short on it!
It was a little shallow--I wanted it to be more 'epic' but its just ONE battle, not a war or revolution.

I forget if it was History or Discovery, but I saw a documentary this past weekend about the real battle. It was 2 hours long and very detailed

Apparenty the Spartan Hero also makes a disparging comment about Athenians liking young boys to much, yet I don't hear the Greeks getting bent out of shape. Gladiator was great even if they mixed up the Roman army weaponary time periods up a bit. The saddest one was Alexander, which seemed to be about a gay guy traveling through the world and dealing with his (very hot) mother issues.
