    Gun Safety Class Screwup

While teaching kids gun safety and stating he is the only one professional enough to handle the gun a DEA officer manages to shoot himself in the leg. He then just asks if everybody is ok and goes on with the demonstration like nothing happened.

yep, just really sad. If my kids were in that class I would be royally pissed. Just goes to show how little some officers are with guns. A local PD in MI has had several AD's including a few missing digits.

This is incompetance in it's highest form. During a class of any kind there should never be a loaded firearm anywhere in the vicinity. During a safety class like this there should not have even been magazines or ammo in the classroom.
The fact that this DEA nerd shot himself is humorous, that he endangered children is criminal. I would wager that he is out of a career as a result of this action. (at least I hope so).

Do not touch the trigger until you are ready to fire.

Release the magazine, clear the chamber.

Also, when you release the slide, it chambers another round on its way forward if the magazine is still in there.

The only thing I've ever done with a semiautomatic pistol that shook my confidence was failing to disengage the safety once; it was in fact the only time in my life I've ever failed to disengage the safety when I was ready to fire. I haven't been able to fire that gun since. It scared the living daylights out of me.

But this... this is just pathetic. I'm here beating myself senseless for hearing click when I wanted bang and this idiot is free to tote a "Glock 40" (looked more like a 23 to me, maybe a 19 I don't know I can't tell) around.

Do they even make a Glock 40? I've never heard of such a model. Of course he may have meant a Glock .40, but that doesn't make any sense. They make a variety of .40 S&W caliber Glock pistols.

And this coming from the guy who likes revolvers.

We had this over on THR - totally inexcusable. No accident - a 100% negligent discharge.

I reckoned here - .40 cal and Glock 22. But heck I still get mixed up on half of em!

So much for gun-free school zones.
