    Duels?

Back in days gone by it was not unknown for two men to reach such a level of dispute that the only way to resolve their differences was in a duel.
Somehow over the years duelling disappeared, I guess it is now seen as barbaric or uncivilized.

However, it could be argued that a good duel could solve many a problem, and enforce Darwinism on those stupid enough to challenge others without knowing their skills.

So, how would you feel about the reintroduction of duelling?
    Would you take part?
    What weapon would you use?

And yes, this topic is intended for humor value, before anyone cites laws or other legal precedents.

I might pending on the situation, my weapon of choice would be a bear claw sawed off 12 guage. Always cheat, always win. I think 2 rounds of 00 buck would do. That's what, 18 projectiles?

Shotgun is good, my choice of weapon however would be Jerry Miculek.

Were it ensured that duels would be committed to honorably, for honorable causes and righteous stands (not merely for a "diss" or concern), I'd be all for it. Though, despite the nostalgic look back at duels and how "honorable" they must have been, I'm sure the practice was abused to no end, to settle stupid grudges, correct a "diss" and defend one's dishonor. On the whole, I'd think forcing full-term sentences combined with unrestricted firearms ownership/carry would go farther than any system of duels.

I'd always want to know which side the ''second'' is on - and whether he is armed or not?!

Me personally...a fine set of matched dueling pistols - of course. What other proper way is there to have a duel?

Its my general understanding that each duelist had a second, and yes, they were armed, to insure that everything was done in a "sporting" manner.

I would assume duels would be conducted with pistols, so a 1911 would prolly be a pretty good choice, if more than pistols a M-79 with a buckshot or flechette round would knock a bigger hole than your sawed off.

But then again, don't you think bladed weapons would be more fun, I mean if someone insults your honor enough you want to kill them, might as well do it right.

Blades makes me think of Ninjary, if indeed that is a word.
Duelling involves hurling hot lead at the other guy while hoping his aim is impeded by a massive gaping wound and/or sudden loss of blood.
For that reason I choose Jerry Miculek, you can have all the Chuck Norris's under the sun, at the end of the day Jerry will shoot the red stuff out of him before he could squint his eyes and pucker his lips.

If Jerry was unavailable I would probably ask for Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz, not because I think they would win but just because I would like to meet them.

You know maybe bringing back dueling with very Hard Hitting but, PAINFUL non-lethal bean bag type rounds might be a good idea.

Something powerful enough to knock the wind right out of your sails if you caught a COM hit with it.
Face and throat protection & maybe the immediate heart area protected.

    Take the paces...turn & fire.
Both duelists sign an ironclad liability waiver and then just have at it.

Not deadly but, mighty doggone sore and Black & Blue guaranteed.

Maybe MORE than single shot...multiple rounds of non lethal...both duelists continuing to fire until one relents.
That could possibly solve a few arguments and injustices.

Electronic pistols each equipped with a panic button - once the panic button is pushed it sends a signal and BOTH pistols instantly deactivate. The person who pushed The Say Uncle button loses the duel.

Dueling with FX cartridges from Simunitions, now that would be interesting.

I will not post any laws that prohibit dueling, but here are the rules.

I see your point, however duesl were fought for a long long time with blades. But, since this is all in good fun, I think and M1A2 Abrams would really be my weapon of choice.

Well boys, since I carry thunder and lightning around all day long, I am obligated to use them once in a while. SO, I choose my bare hands.
