Bear attack in Cleveland, Ohio!
I'm ashamed to admit this, but I was watching Oprah at work the other day (hey, we only get a couple channels, okay?), and there was a story of a teenage girl who opened the door to her garage, and a bear was just outside the garage (garage door open, I guess). She shut the door, but the bear broke it down, saw the girls' mother and decided to eat her. The girl tried distracting the bear and punched it, but it was petty focused. She tried to get a gun but couldn't remember the combination for the vault. So she does the next best thing, opens the fridge and gives the bear lunchmeat. I'm not sure how the rest of it went, but mom got pretty messed up, but lived.
Bears in Cleveland? I don't think I'd beleive it if I heard from any journalist but Oprah herself.

I know Southern Ohio, especially around West Virginia has some black bears, I guess they could go up that far, there are some fairly heavily wooded and hilly ares between Columbus and Cleveland. Maybe it had escaped from the Zoo, I dunno. Somehow Cincinnati lost a cow in the city for several weeks a few years back.
My parents subdivision currently has a coyote problem, people keep getting their small dogs attacked, and I can hear the packs running the creeks while I am here. But the village doesn't want any gunfire within limits, so nobody is exterminating them.
