Thumbs up Just got back from New York City

While in New York, I got a weird compliment. My daughter and I were ordering a slice of pizza at a Park Ave. Deli and the clerk said: "Your not from around here are you" and I said "No, why do I have an accent?" and he said: "No, but you talk different" and I looked at him puzzled and he said "Your plight and you say Please and Thank you, not like people here that say: gimme a slice". My daughter and I just smiled and said thank you. Boy am I glad I live in a small town.

Many don't even know the plight they're in. Ain't it the truth.

    You do, though:

Boy am I glad I live in a small town.
For 25yrs, I lived in a small town. There is a simplicity, a "backwardness" and a bit of a time warp that some outsiders would recognize. Me, I call it good manners and being raised properly, with a healthy dose of common sense to live in a place where the spirit can rejuvenate each and every day.

A tip o' the hat to the pizza dude for recognizing and complimenting these traits in you and your family. Kudos for keeping your head screwed on straight.

I was talking to a woman from New York on the phone one time, as a mfg rep, we regularly talk to people all over the country, after saying "yes mam" several times she stopped the conversation and said 'you guys from the south are so nice, It's not that far, but it's like a whole different world."
