I talk that back, it appears I got my gas BEFORE the weekly price jump! My wife just came in and said this morning the same station was at $2.97! We'll see $3 before May!! At this rate we'll see $4 plus by the "summer" travel season.

$2.85 per gallon in Kalispell, Montana, right now, and it ain't even tourist season yet!

I'm not looking forward to July 4th, it'll probably be a good excuse to stay home, won't be able to afford to drive anywhere.

Mine too...Changed my life. I had pretty much dropped out of college, and was living in my parents home with no job and quite frankly didn't care. I used up most of what was left of my savings partying on the weekends and living off everyone else. I met a fellow through an odd circumstance and he handed me this book and said "Read it. You need it now more than me.". So of course, having not read a book since I dropped out of school, I read it. Within 2 weeks of reading it, I convinced a manager of an IT networking department to give me a job and show me the ropes. I'm now living on my own, own my own home, supporting myself and not being a drain on society and now I try as much as I can to get others to follow. Somewhere out there someone has a paperback copy of Atlas Shrugged that on the inside front cover has the first owner's name listed at the top(crossed out), followed by a second owner, and a third (the guy who gave it to me) and mine, all names crossed. Who knows how far that book will travel.

I got gas yesterday morning for 2.66(regular 87 stuff) here in VA. Drove by the same station today on my way out to do some errands...it was 2.79.

    $2.79 here and rising.

They know what the consumer can take after the post-Katrina did nothing to reduce consumption.
It's a cartel, they are maximizing profit before it falls apart and we actually grow the balls to revolt and all get hangliders or something.

    Now that would be cool.

I hate the high price of gas, but if you really believe that the oil companies are getting such a huge return without risk, then go out and buy some oil company stock.

Glad to hear it, sgtD. Also insuance companies and pension funds own huge amounts of oil stocks, so many people are invested without even knowing it.
