Looks like a lens flare or reflection. Cool image, but nothing extraordinary. Check this one out...

Cool, old British WW2 Lancaster bomber. I saw another one not to long ago of a cruise missile.

Hmmmm, I was going to suggest that answer. That is why when I was working on the Earth observing satellites they always had very narrow and specifically designed light baffles on them. Those aren't 100% but it sure cuts down on things like that unless the reflectance is right "down the bore".

0.02 ... wasn't making a complaint per se on the popups .... just an observation because it seems a pity when well used sites seem to increase the potential ''garbage''. I forget how many times I see ''fastclick'' show up for example, and another click recorder which I forget - stuff that gets cleared out when spy/adware stuff does cleanup.

I don't see them as such because I also have pop-ups disabled but I always know when they are there by the response of the browser, even if brief. No biggie - just an old man's crusty comment

That's not what it is...my my top secret "laser" captured in it's test firing. We were going to use the "laser" to release "magma" and RULE THE WORLD!!

Now my plans of world domination have been foiled by Google!!!

    Here's what the link says.

The phenomenon is a result of circumstances lining up to spoil a photo. If you drew a line right from the sun, through the aperature of the camera, to the centre of the glint, it would line up perfectly. That creates the nearly symmetrical crossing effect. The phenomenon is called, according to my aging reference, non-angular specular reflectance. Angular specular reflectance is similar, but the result is the light reflecting from the ground into the camera, on an angle called sun-object-image angle.

In the bad old days of film cameras, the planners would plan their flights around avoiding any reflectance, but specifically the non-angular. This is because it would over expose the film causing an effect called image falloff, or in other words a loss of detail. This would occur whether the ground was "shiny" or not.

Huntingdon, quite a nice place. I've visited on several occassions, RAF Molesworth--a former B-17 base--is nearby.

Former British PM John Major lives in Huntingdon...

    Cheers! M2
