First of all, I'm a (small town) estate sale junky. Over the years we have found a LOT of wonderful stuff, but not like this weekend. The sale was scheduled to start at 8 AM, and I was first in line before 7. The advertisement included tools, hunting/fishing stuff, and 60+ years of "junk". When it opened, I made a bee-line to the outside workshop and garage. Whoever priced the items didn't know diddly about value, because everything was priced far, far below value. On the floor was a red tool box with a price sticker of $15 . At that price, it was worth it, but when I picked it up it was full. I couldn't believe it - three COMPLETE Snap-On socket sets - 1/4,3/8, 1/2. All in like new condition. Next to that box was a Kennedy tool box with Proto and Challenger wrenches - all kinds and sizes for $20. As I always do, I asked about guns and knives, and the lady running the sale told me I'd have to talk to the late owner's daughter about those items, as they aren't allowed to sell them in estate sales. The daughter said there was a couple of her dad's guns in the closet, but if I was interested I'd have to come back after the sale ended. I returned that evening and got a old Win M94 and a Smith M10 for $200. Both in excellent ,excellent condition. The M10 is the thin barrel with box, cleaning rod/brush/paper and a box of Winchester 38 sp with 12 missing. My wife did equally well with furnature. The house is also for sale, and we are seriously considering making an offer because the daughter just wants the whole ordeal over with ASAP. I'm still in a daze.
Arggg! I don't ever find deals like that!

Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

Geezer gets extremely lucky.
He'll probably buy the house now and find 1,000 gold coins buried in the basement.

Recent estate sales around here have been difficult to acquire guns cheaply. There tends to be a lot of interest in firearms & farm implements. Years ago, you could get good deals.....now it's a lot tougher.

OKShooter....ain't gonna happen. Wife and I went back for another good look at the house and neighborhood, with the intention of getting some rental property for little investment. Times have sure changed since we last did that. My hat is off to anybody that handles/manages rental property !! In a nutshell, you can't "pick and choose" your renters. It seems my requirements would be considered as gross discremenation. I cannot be politacly correct.
As for buying property to rent .. well I had the chance to buy a place next door but also have this thing about the problem of who gets in. It is hard to control.
Mind you I almost wish I had, as the current inhabitants are .... hmmmm ... trying to find polite word!!! - there!

WOW! Great finds!
Jealousy is so ugly.......
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
After hearing this, I might have to start checking out estate sales.
Posting this information is exceedingly cruel!I returned that evening and got a old Win M94 and a Smith M10 for $200. Both in excellent ,excellent condition. The M10 is the thin barrel with box, cleaning rod/brush/paper and a box of Winchester 38 sp with 12 missing.

And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,

Good finds! I play around with buying up default storage units once in a while. I havn't gotten any guns yet, but I have certainly added to the tool collection.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.
