    Danger, Will Robinson!

    Terrorist Alert in France!

AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that
it has raised its terror alert level from "run" to "hide."

The only two higher levels in France are "surrender" and
    "collaborate."

The raise was precipitated by a recent fire which destroyed one of
France's white flag factories, disabling their military.

Guys, I believe this. I opened my freezer and a bag of French Fries was shuddering, then flipped over and played dead. I also have some incredible deals on Lebel rifles; they are in very good condition, they have only been dropped once. Upon surrender.

I have always liked the south of France, nice country side and along the seacoast is very nice. I worked on a project in south of france for a while, the people were nice to work with, the food was great. I have always wanted to live there, not year round but mostly spring and summer. I believe they depend upon tourist dollar to prop up their economy. With their work week now extended to 35 hours the kicking and screaming should set in. Europe does have good vacation plans for its workers getting August off and other periods of time during the year.
They have always prevent the US from overflying France when we had to take action against another country. Its like Canada's position where they get to maintain an independent air about them but knowing full well they are under this protective umberalla of the US.

    they depend upon tourist dollar
It's a good thing they don't depend upon 'The Tourist dollar.'

At this point I'd buy "Bin Laden Brand Foot Salve" before I bought anything French.

I expect my enemies to enemies, however...

    Red face

I joke about the French the same as many of you, but I would hope that it is more a "generality" and more pointed at the French Government....I've travelled quite a bit in France and see a big difference between the "country" folk and the neopolitan managerie that populates the bigger cities. If one tours the areas around Normandy, those that lived thru the invasion period still show a deep respect for the "Americans" who helped to liberate them. They maintain the war cemeteries immaculately......The French were at least smart enough to know when pulling out of Vietnam was the thing to do, and no, we didn't go in to "save the French"....JFK was concerned about "containment"....what a crock!

    Hmmm...sounds sort of like here.

Any french citizen who still maintains an American war cemetary is totally excluded from any of our barbs against France. Just like here in the US, some people have an attention span longer than 5 minutes and an appreciation for history, and some do not.

I think the single reason that most of us look down so sharply at France, besides their historicaly ineptitude in matters of warfare, is their current tendency towards neo-socialism, and that wouldn't pi$$ us off so much if so many people in our own country didn't look to it as a model, despite the fact that their vaunted national healthcare system allowed nearly 15,000 French citizens to die from a heat wave in 2003.

Yes my friends that number is correct.

Let's send them all of our liberals and take all of those that maintain our military cemeteries (along with the remains in those in the cemeteries) and we would be better off. Enough of the French, anyone want to knock the Germans?

Isn't it interesting how some liberals like to disparage Southerners because 150 years ago their great-great-grandparents might have owned slaves, while at the same time praising German "culture", and never want to bring up the fact that 60 years ago the grandparents or parents of those Germans, or they themselves, were likely Nazi supporters or collaborators?

Gotta love that selective memory / selective "forgiveness".

I knew an Indiana State Trooper who was a Marine and did embassy duty in Paris, he took some leave and wanted to see the Bellow Woods battle ground. After spending the middle of the day touring the battle ground he went to town for a late lunch and found a little cafe, he was wearing his Marine summer Bravo uniform (green trousers and kaki short sleeve shirt). After he finished lunch he waited a bit for the check and finally went and found the proprietor and asked for the bill so he could pay up and be on his way, the man was almost insulted and said “You are US Marine, you don’t pay here.” He said that night at dinner was the same and he thought the owner of the little inn was going to send his oldest daughter up to his room for the night.

No one hates the French more than me, he!! I even gave up Courvoisier they pi$$ed me off so much over Iraq, but the country folk are about as different from their sh!tty slicker cousins as we rednecks are from Boston idiots.
