Folks in my NEC got moved ahead pretty quick (so I can't take all the credit). I was a Nuke Machinist Mate, and didn't even get to the fleet until I was a 2nd class (took me under 2 yrs to make that). I made E-6 in under 5, the only reason it took me another 5 yrs to make Chief was because they cut back on available billets, I made board twice before I finally got it, so I could've potentially made E-7 in under 8yrs if everything lined up just right.
