Got any spare Karma?
I could probably use it.
I go in for a job interview Thursday morning. Not so much a job interview as a 'position' interview.
I've worked for the same company for 27 years, rotating shifts.
A couple of years ago I was selected for a special project and went on straight days. After that project ended I was temporarily assigned to do database management.
Now they've made the database job a permanent one but I had to submit a bid. One other person bid on it too.
I guess it's in my favor that I've been doing the job for over six months and almost a month ago they scheduled me to attend a seminar in San Francisco next week.
I'm nervous as the proverbial ho in church about the interview though even though most people in the company already assume the job is mine. I'm not assuming anything until it's said and done.
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.

But I wish you the best of luck.

Woah, compared to "Operations Database Administrator" you do have more on the line than me.
Good luck, karma is on your way.

I didn't realize karma was transferrable, have you tried eBay?
You don't want any of mine, I'm going through a bad patch.

Went for the interview this morning. First thing they told me that the only other candidate for the position had withdrawn his bid.
As a 'formality' the interview was conducted anyway. Hour an a half later it was over, I'm 99.9% sure I'll be starting my new job soon!

Thanks for the karma sent my way, now I'm off to celebrate!

Great! A lot of times companies will do this. They have to make the job availible to avoid looking bad, but most of the time, they will just write the job description so narrowly that it only applies to one person (usually the person that was already doing the job in the first place).
I won't jinx you by "dancing on the 5-yard line", but I all the same, 99.9% congrats to you.

I don't know how many times in the last 25 years I've heard "I'm not going to apply, they already know who's getting the job".
About time it was my turn.

IT'S OFFICIAL! I am no longer a Control Room Operator, I am the I am the "Operations Database Administrator". Gonna have to request new business cards.
Got a call this evening while stoking up the grill and popping my first Bud.
Start at the same wage I'm making now, but the benefits are better.
Thanks again for the good wishes and Karma, it will be repaid.
