I needed that...

Work and sicknesses had kept me from shooting with my club regulary for the past 2 months. Today I finally had the chance to attend a qualifier/Safety Officer class from one of our carbine groups. We did not shoot much, we discussed about safety rules & procedures and it was an absolute blast to hang around fellow shooters and a Lady Shooter.
I needed that.... I am sooo relaxed I am gonna pass out like a baby.

And, of course, all those ugly black rifles!

Today was exactly that. Most of us know each other from IDPA and 3-gun matches but this particular "discipline" literally exploded all of the sudden and people we did not know started to show up and some were very unskilled in the safety area. We even had a couple of guys that not only were sent home for constant unsafe weapon handling but got downright aggressive beacuse we did not want them around. So today we spent it going through a refresher on Range Safety and "testing" a test of minimal qualification on rifle use so you are allowed to shoot. That reminds me, is there a book I can buy about rifle techniques? I can perform safely but accurately? :gah:

Rocky, I counted 4 AKs (one being mine) and a Styer was also in the mix. Also a couple of ARs Class III. MIA today were the SKS guys, the guy with the Storm, the guy with the M1 Carbine and at least 2 that go FAL/CETME.

Very cool! Sounds like you had a lot of fun! People seem not to believe us when we say that shooting is relaxing.. if only they would try it.. They wouldn't need prozac or zoloft.

And while I am on this subject, may I rant for just a second?

What did the fine people of this country do in the decades before Zoloft and Prozac? In the 20's, 30's 40's and 50's before the hippy mindset took hold and told everyone that no matter what bad happens to them in life it isn't their fault, just take this pill and feel better about yourself?

I'll tell you what, THEY GOT THE HELL OVER IT AND WENT ON WITH THEIR LIVES!
Men came back from WWII really messed up. Shell shocked (Post traumatic stress disorder they call it now) and they sucked it up, got a job and made a life after the war.

Now you can't watch a half hour of TV without having to see 7 different commercials for some anti-depressant pill to make you feel better.
I say, just snap the heck out of it and get on with your life! Don't rely on a pill to make you feel good about yourself. Live life!

OK....sorry about that. Just a pet peeve of mine. Rant off now.
