Went to see this movie this morning, nothing like a good zombie movie to wake you up.
There's usually a few people on any given gun forum who appreciate the shooting of zombies, if that's you then you'll like this one, they shoot lots. US snipers on London rooftops overlooking crowds of running, panicking citizens being chased by super-fast, super-nasty zombies which the snipers pick out one by one. Then as the troops lose control and they can't control the infection the order is given to shoot everyone, anything is a legitimate target.
Fast paced movie, minimal story slowdowns and plausible (for a zombie movie) plot.
Two thumbs up (into the brain - when you see it you'll know what I mean).
YOU DO KNOW THAT A HEAD SHOT ONLY KILLS THEM OR SO I'M TOLD. lOVE THOSE ZOMBIE MOVIES.
It's a sequel, hence 28 Weeks Later.
The continuity is that after the original 28 days everyone got infected with just a handful of survivors, they eluded the zombies and the zombies starved to death(?), then the USA led NATO force arrives and starts clean up with the survivors housed in a safe zone in East London. Then they start repatriating Brits that were abroad when the original outbreak occurred.
Yeah, I can see that conversation
"Hi, we're with NATO, we want you to know, that all those pesky zombies that were infecting England have been killed, and we think whatever caused it is gone... wanna move to London?"
I think the appropriate response at that point would be.... "No"
Some fans of the movie get really angry when you call them zombies, so be careful Technically (in the movie) they are people infected with a virus that causes uncontrollable rage. So they die and starve to death just like people
Ha ha, but you're not a Brit, they do what they are told.
It's worse than that actually.
"Hi, we're with NATO, we want you to know, that all those pesky zombies that were infecting England have been killed, and we think whatever caused it is gone... wanna move to London?
BTW you still can't have any guns."
Ive been waiting for this to come out for quite some time!!! Awesome!!! Glad its good. I'm gonna see it ASAP.
just got back from the theatre; it wasn't as good as the first one, but it was still good. the first one had characters you actually cared about, and made you horrified when bad stuff happened to them, like frank (if you saw the movie). this one focused more on the outbreak, and the measures taken to contain it; they don't focus to much on character development. it definitely was bloodier than the first installment.
there are rumors that there will be a third installment, showing outbreaks of the virus across the globe, and how different countries deal with the situation. the way the first movie played out was pretty realistic; people had to resort to handheld weapons, or run like hell. it was gun free england, after all. wonder how we'd make out.
Isn't that one of the stock answers to "why do you carry a gun?"
The ending is set up for a sequel. There are a few military faux pas but they only annoy people like me (the PVS-14 does not have a reticle, and neither does the reflex sight in front of it).
Over all a good movie but the first one was better.
"and suddenly I can not hold back my sword hand's anger"
The first half of the movie was really good, but the end was "nyeh." The call for snipers to shoot everybody was interesting.
Everybody getting herded into the scary dark room and locked in was scary.
If you want to see "gun free England," go watch Hot Fuzz.
"Americans have the will to resist because you have weapons. If you don't have a gun, freedom of speech has no power." - Yoshimi Ishikawa
Agreed, the last 20-30 minutes of any modern action movie are negligible at best, the trend is towards explosive introductions (see Casino Royale) and then weak endings that convolute towards the setting up of a sequel (see Casino Royale).
All said though, this movie kept my attention and only got a few shouts of derision as the credits went up.
