Glad you are OK. Most folks don't realize how dangerous road debris can be. Like others here I have lost a tire from it and a scuff on the paint after an empty card board box flew off a truck in front of me. The windshield, in fact the whole car can be replaced; you can't. Take care of yourself.

Those glasses might just have saved your life today, if you had got an eyeful of splintered glass who knows where you would've ended up, blinded you might've rolled that truck.

Good story, thanks for sharing. Glad you made it ok.

WHOA! NO! That is one wicked bit of bad! Good job maintaining control of the truck when that happened! Congrats on having good driving skills.

I too have had a similar thing happen. I saw a large chunk of concrete bounce out of the back of a dump truck a few years ago on the interstate and it hit the road way, bounced high enough to be above my field of vision or above the top of the windshield and it was heading my way. I swerved left and almost cleared it. It hit the Jeep Cherokee just infront of the antenna on the passenger side fender. Another 3 inches and it would have missed me completely. Took a nice gouge out of the metal, but as it is a Jeep, it just adds to the character factor.

Yours is scary. Again, good job maintaining control.

Close one. More people die each year from road debris than mass shootings by persons with a concealed carry license. I like that.

Glad to hear that you kept control of your SUV and much more importantly, that you're OK.

Miggy, glad you are OK and that the damage to your vehicle was no worse. That has to be one very scary feeling watching that piece of metal come down and not be able to do anything to get out of the way. Take care.

Thanks everybody. I must say it was a bit (or lots) scary. Lessons learned: Wear glasses all the time 'cause you never know and sometimes no matter how prepared, sometimes you are gonna get it.
Now that I am clam, I want to add that the ride home in the tow truck was not a picnic either. I swear the driver was on cristal 'cause he was talking about a mile a second, driving as fast and commenting about working non-stop since wednesday. All I know I was strapped hard and holding on to any surface that looked secured inside the cabin...and the truck itself was about the sice of a big refrigerator!

Never a dull moment in South Florida!

Late to the thread Miggy but - wow! Just wow!

Glad as heck you got away with that OK and managed to safely stop. I have seen all sorts of debris come off vehicles and the roadway - but this is a first for a chainsaw bar!

Someone was smiling on you today .... that could all have turned out way worse.

Miggy, glad you are alright. A chainsaw bar! I wouldn't have believed it, but the pictures don't lie.
