    Close Call....Road Debris

So yours truly is on his way to work doing the speed limit on I-595 when I notice the vehicle in front of me running over something on the road and the object suddenly taking off high up in the air. Next thing I know... BAM!

I kept my wits enough not to lose control of the truck and park safely. I am telling you that seeing the pointy side of that piece of metal aimed at my face was not one of my best moments.

I was showered form head to lap with very small glass fragments, Thank God I wear glasses.

I called work (sorry, I aint making it today) Florida Highway Patrol and the Insurance company. Filed a report and a claim, got a tow truck. This also was my first time facing an unknown LEO and carrying a weapon. Although not required in Fla, I informed the trooper and he was cool with it and very professional regarding my well being which I appreciated.

The embedded item, according to the tow truck driver, is a chainsaw blade or whatever the heck the chain rides on a chain saw. It is about 18 inches long and 2 inches wide.....and if I ever find the owner of it he is gonna have it embedded somewhere board rules do not allow me to specify.

I saw it being hit, it flew high enough it left my field of vision and I remember thinking "I better move out of the way" so I started to turn left but did no good.

Wow, I've lost a few tires to road debris but never a windshield! That laminated safety glass sure did it's job. Glad you got out of that one OK!

You know they have those little kits that you can use to fill in a small nick in the windshield. You're going to need a few of those ....

    Very glad you're ok!!

Wow Miggy, Glad you are okay, and didn't crach after that hit. Either could have been bad.

That is far worse than the Chicken my wife and I saw try to fly accross the interstate, It hit the windshield in the upper left corner, and flew streight up in the air at least 50'. From a half mile back, we saw it unfold but couldn't do anything to stop it.

Yep. To paraphrase Bill Cosby, when the bar hit the windshield, whether you crashed the truck or not, you ARE going to have an accident.

Glad everything is OK and you lived to change to new underwear.

    I thought 'bars' and EDC's didn't mix...

    Now that doesn't happen everyday...

You are a lucky guy...that could have very well been deadly. If I were you, I'd be buying some lottery tickets right about now...'cause' it is your lucky day!

    Glad you are OK!

    Take care...

Miggy, you've got to give me some lessons on how to post pic's...each time I've tried...it states the pic's are too big! ret
