I couldn't go to the competition myself, and my buddy calls me the day before when he went down and picked up our entry that we shipped. He says that somebody must've used our package as a step ladder. Very unhappy about spening $480 for this kind of treatment. Anyhow, one of the damaged parts that the simply tried to bend back straight broke off a few minutes into our attempt. We were on pace to take obliterate the only other competitors that had a chance at beating us. Nobody got money though because nobody dug the minimum.
Summary:
-We finished 2nd out of an original 60-something competitors, although all but 8 dropped out.
-We did beat several colleges, including at least one that had over $10,000 into their machine, and had 11 members professional machinests to make their parts., We built ours with hand tools over basically a 2 wk period.
-We were on pace to finish first, bad karma, we officially finished 2nd.
-We may have been on pace to do the minimum and win money, but it would've been close.
-a guy did like our work, and asked if we were would be interested in building something for him that some else failed at. Build nerdy robot stuff for money? YES
We'll be back next year.:buttkick:
