Often, because of randomly assigned IP's among a certain internet carriers customer base, you could log on with an IP of somebody who was banned.

Email the mods and explain yourself. They should understand as this is not a rare occurance.

Much nicer here, but I post and read on the COP TALK section

You could probably try to find a free proxy that they don't have banned.

A possibility Tom is they may have used a three part IP ban .... if for example (fictional) your IP was 256.128.4.24 and they had put a ban on 256.128.4 ......... that effectively would shut off 256 IP's in one go.

BTW - I seem to recall there can be specific issues with AOL users ... but don't quote me.

I am putting this over to Humor and off topic.

If AOL is your service provider then you most likely get a new IP everytime you log onto your account. But IP addresses are often at least partially regional (think like an international phone number) and so some sites ban on a larger scale to stop a particularly annoying person.

For example, If I was banned from a site but because I had AOL I could just create a new account and go about my business. Their response could be to ban my entire city.

If you have a router/broadband try cutting off the broadband modem and then your router, and restarting both. Sometimes, that can assign you a new IP and you will be good to go.

    Tom ~

I don't think anyone actually reads emails to the tech support guy at that forum. Like you, my IP is banned there, I don't know why (I've never posted there, but bumped into the ban while trying to register), and no one bothers answering my emails. *shrug*

I deleted GlockTalk from my list of forums long ago. I found that while some very knowledgeable people post there, like Ayoob, the general level of user is a thug. The mods there have admitted to their intention to NOT control the board. I found no value to anything there for me. BUT>>> you can see that I am still here if lurking more than posting. Something I believe in is if you have nothing of Value to say, then say nothing. This theory is not used at GlockTalk.

So bad was my opinion of the forum there that I really contemplated NOT buying a Glock at all. In the end I did not and will not, the wife wanted one and I did let her buy one. I'll stick with the 1911's and a much better class of people. (Gee is that snobby of me? )
