I was never in the Air Farce, but I remember building a tent town, and looking next door as the Air force was moving into their "hotel" complete with swimming pools... If I could do it all over....

Is someone going to start a thread for those that never served, haven't seen the inside of a church in twenty years, aren't a member of any political party, live in the shadows of polite society and are only here for the guns?
On topic, I've been in lots of airplanes, just never in uniform.

Wow!!! Had a great time. Just one story. Cuban missile crisis and was in Ellison AFB Alaska. Was on flight line on a KC135 and they opened up the ammo bunkers to load the H-Bombs onto the B-52's. Siren's blowing,Air Police guarding,4 bombs to a plane,10 planes in a christmas tree, and brother, engines running. We would have wipped Russia off the face of the earth.

....easy with the USAF jokes there buddy....I recall building tent cities for us as well at bare base locations. Besides the DFAC chow hall (run by the Army) was better than the USAF chow hall at my deployed location in Iraq.

....anyhooo.
18+ years in the USAF (3.5 active; 11 years ANG; rest AFRES) all as an intelligence officer. Currently an 0-4/Major, assigned to an Army-run subunified command of USCENTCOM.
My ANG assignment was with a rescue unit.....I miss working with the aircrews and PJs.
My active duty assignment was briefing aircrews and commanders at Dover AFB, DE.
Had some "fun" times during Operations JUST CAUSE, Desert SHIELD and STORM, NORTHERN WATCH (too many times to count), and IRAQI FREEDOM.
Worked with some outstanding Marines during ONW and Army intel types during OIF (and now at my AFRES assignment).

No joke meant, Its just the story about the day I understood that I should have joined the Air Force.

Great web site! I started out as a Loadmaster on C-141A’s &
C-141B’s at Travis (the Gate way to the Pacific). As an airman and a junior NCO I would end up with a single hotel room as often as not while TDY. Then I became a Cop (Security Forces) as a MSgt I got the first cot in the GP medium so the powers that be could find me quicker. If we were lucky enough to get the tents.

I recall a bunch of the PJs in my old unit were in the Army. More than few of the HH-60 drivers were Marines....funny how that turns out.
Sixto....in honesty, I wish the USAF command embrace the fact that not all of us are rated airmen or care to drive jets.
Our "Fighter Mafia" needs to realize that every military problem isn't solved with F-22's dropping precision munitions...but rather, the dedicated PJ, combat weatherman, TACP, combat controller, and/or security forces folks are very crucial components in our wars....as well as those supporting them.

I always thought the Air Force had the smartest guys in any service. They're the ones who've figured out that the best way to fight a war is to stay well out of the line of fire and throw officers at the enemy.

Air Force...
What could I say...
BEQ for junior Marines... 3 to 4 man room; the Air Force... 1 man room - with maid service.
Forward deployed Marines eat...MREs; Air Force... uses a mobile kitchen.
Yeah, life is harsh being a chaircond ranger.

My time in the Air Force was in an air conditioned building too!
Of course, it was 65 feet underground, with 10 megatons just down the hallway...
Titan II s were fun missiles....
