We have had a rash of Gas N Go's lately. (I wonder why )

I had one last week that was solved in a matter of an hour. A guy pulls in, fills up his tank in his SUV $70.00 worth, then drives off without paying. Now heres the funny part... He had taken the time to mask his plate with a rag but he had "FOR SALE 513-XXX-XXXX" written larger than life across the back and side windows.
Of course the clerk writes down the number, and the video captures it as well.

So, the clerk passes the info on to me, and I call the number. I pose as someone wanting to buy his SUV, and I ask him if cash was OK. Of course he says yes and agrees to meet me in the shopping center down the road from his crime.
He shows up, and I pull into the lot in my fully marked police cruiser and make the arrest.

After I get him back into my car, and his is up on the tow truck, he asks if we can wait for a few minutes... he is here to see a guy about selling his car.

Yeah, your right about the chlorine. Your thread reminded me of this story. I forgot to add he still had the rag covering his plate when I got him... it made for a great picture to show the judge.

I wouldn't think driving with a rag over the plate would be a very good idea, but whatever. Obviously the guy is not going to win a million dollars on "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader?"

A lot of places make you pay before you pump 24 hours now, guess this isn't one of em.

Everywhere I guess is getting these - the bummer is more and more places want prepay. Not a major biggie but when I fill the bike I usually want to use cash rather than card etc.

They are supposed to make you pay before you pump, but many of the clerks dont for whatever reason. I have a hard time feeling sorry for them when they get ripped off, they should know better.

Where I go to get gas I just pull up and wave to the attendent and he turns it on. I've been going to the same place for years.
