5 Favorite Aircraft?
I wanna play.
BONE (Thats B-one, Bomber)
F-15 (I'd say F-22, but that seems unfair to any "classic")
A-10 (yes again!, and trying to replace it with the JSF is pure paper-warrior absurdity!)
Sorry no pics.
B17 Flying Fortress
Huey Super Cobra
The AC130 Spectre. When you need to kill evverything in one square kilometer in one pass.
You can't: Not love the Mustang, out gun the B17 (ok the Ac-130 Spectre does), and if you've called in Marine Corps CAS, you can't not love Cobras blowing the heck out of an Iraqi armored coulumn.
**Edit, you said 5, ad the FA18 to my list, dang those swabbies can get in close...But I still prefer the Marine Corps Aviators.
Also, while the A10 is pretty dang cool, we in the armored community hate seeing them overhead, they have more friendly kills than any other plane.
No kidding, I didnt know that.

But, what you say makes sense.
Im sure that cannon on the nose isnt as accurate as many think.
It's not that, it's that enemy BMPs and US/Allied Bradleys, LAVs, and Strykers look awful alike at speed. Same deal with tanks.

Not knocking reservists but...stuff happens.
And the A10s are very accurate, if you ever go up to Fort Indian Town Gap, they do A10 runs up there, that Vulcan gun makes quite the racket.
I didn't know that. I have always wondered why ground vehicles don't get an IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) getup. I know there would few issues with that, but nothing I can think of that we couldn't work around.

That's why I prefer to have rotary wing on station, you always have two guy in the cockpit, they go slower and in general coordinate better with the FACs on the ground.
Also if you look at "who does what" really well, the Air Force is mainly for bombing / air to air combat and does a really good job, but when you start talking close air support (CAS) with troops on the ground your better off with Navy / USMC fighter/bombers and Army/USMC choppers. They just train more in CAS.
Getting way off topic here, back to the top 5...
Very good choices! I can't believe I over looked the B1B and the SR71. My brother was in Marine Aviation, his unit VMFA 251 was originall comprised of F4U Corsairs, we once had one fly over a parade we were doing, really cool!
