Get to know your revolver. It could save you from zombies.

We all have them... ZOMBIE DREAMS!

For some reason, if I'm dreaming, it's either about zombies or guns. Rarely have they mixed.

In dreams I've ran over zombies with cars, hit them with bats, ran from them, you name if, but for some reason my subconscious never arms me.

Now, if I'm dreaming about guns I'm shooting terrorists or someone breaking into my house, or hoards of bad-guys in ski-masks with M-4s.

But last night, my subconscious allowed those two worlds to collide.

It wasn't completely without its little surprises however.

I fall asleep and I find myself in a room with an unloaded 1911 and an equally useless .38.

Ammo for both guns is on the bed in front of me and a zombie is shuffling it's way across the floor toward me (thank goodness it was one of the really slow ones, not the Dawn of the Dead, speedy Gonzales ones).

The first thing that pops through my little head is, "What's easier to load in a pinch?"

Well, the .38 of course. I figure one bullet will do, so I drop a .38 round in the cylinder, close it and start pulling the trigger (which I find very laborious and hard as the DAO trigger pull is far worse than I ever remember or expect). And as fate, and dreams, would have it, I have to pull the trigger on four empty chambers before the .38 goes, "BANG!"

A HIT! But, alas, not a stopping hit.

I open the cylinder and start reloading. After I've already put three rounds in I realize that because of my unfamiliarity with revolvers, I forgot to remove my spent brass.

Oh well, no time to correct that now. Only four live rounds in the cylinder, close it up, start pulling the creeping ten-pound trigger.

    Four hits.

    I wake up.

Note to self: always keep the 1911 loaded and ready for zombies.

    Note to JD:
Make sure that Lima is not allowed to rent any more zombie movies for at least 6 months. Also, check her netflix account and remove any zombie movie from her list.

LOL.. I haven't seen a zombie movie in months. I think my last one was one of the original "Dawn of the Dead" movies with the chick in the farm house..

*SIGH* That was the color version of "Night of the Living Dead"

The last "zombie" movie was saw was 28 Months later ( I know they weren't zombies...)

I think you just need to practice with the Smith more, and in reality you'd have it much easier, there's two HKS speed loaders and two Bianchi speed strips right next to the Smith at almost all times.

I think your subconscious is telling you that you need to shoot revolvers more and maybe buy another one. A nice S&W model 10 or a Ruger GP-100.

I know my subconscious keeps telling me that, its my wallet that says no.

Yes, I should do more work with revolvers. I've shot a few, learning more about the different models for S&W and things of that sort. I should put more time and effort into revolvers, but I just don't.

As most know I really like revolvers and don't consider them to be short in the capacity department. I find that most people shoot revolvers better than autos if the put in the same amount of time with each.

Now if I'm going into combat, or if the SHTF I want capacity and speed and an auto wins hands down. But in the standard course of things I don't feel undergunned carrying a revolver.

A revolver? for Zombies? Naaaah. What you need is a
. . . boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
A chainsaw can also come in handy.
    Cheers,
    Rod

Now see, that's where you S/A guys and gals get spoiled. My dreams usually incorporate Sasquatch and since two of my semiautos are DAO and one DA/SA, I never have a problem with trigger pull weight in my dreams and Sasquatch ends up full of holes (or empty of holes, whichever way you want to look at it). Sleep easier at night, use DAO.
