Couple finishes restaurant meal while child tied in hot car
POSTED: 10:40 a.m. EDT, June 13, 2007
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (AP) -- Police in northwest Georgia have rescued a boy from a hot car where his mother's companion is accused of tying him up.
Ringgold, Georgia, police say a Cracker Barrel restaurant employee called police after seeing Raymond Minchew take the 6-year-old out of the restaurant and return without him -- then finished eating his meal. Ringgold is 13 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Police found the bound boy sitting in the car, crying.
Sgt. John Gass says the child was soaked with sweat and had a rope tied to one of his ankles. Gass says the temperature was in the 80s Saturday in Ringgold.
The 61-year-old Minchew and the boy's mother -- 35-year-old Rachel Gilchrist -- were arrested and charged with cruelty to children and concealing a weapon. There was a handgun in the car.
Investigators believe the boy was in the hot car for about a half hour.
Gass says the couple contended the boy had misbehaved, although witnesses at the restaurant disagreed.
The boy has been placed in protective custody.

Lesson Learned: Trouble may not occur to or for you directly but to those in your immediate environment, persons who otherwise are themselves defenseless such as a child. As well not all parents are parental such as is the case with this poor kids mother not looking out for his best interests and protecting him from the danger of her dining companion...
Good for the Cracker barrel employee
A real man loves his wife, and places his family as the most important thing in life. Nothing has brought me more peace and content in life than simply being a good husband and father.
What are these people thinking? It just borders on the unbelievable!
EOD - Initial success or total failure
more evidence that people should need a permit to reproduce...
heck...I need one to carry my firearm... why don't they need one to reproduce!?!?

Some people would benefit from a severe beatdown.
That's serious jail time here in Texas.......If the kid dies......it's a possible capital offense.
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
Wow. No limits to the callous stupidity of some folks. Reckless endangerment of a child? At least. Sayonara.Couple finishes restaurant meal while child tied in hot car ... 6-year-old ... sitting in the car, crying ... soaked with sweat and had a rope tied to one of his ankles ... a handgun in the car.
I doubt it, for the person/people in charge of this little tyke.Lesson Learned
There are certainly times when intervention is the only appropriate course of action. This was one of them.Trouble may not occur to or for you directly but to those in your immediate environment, persons who otherwise are themselves defenseless such as a child.
Where is the headsman? Can someone get the headsman for these people. If he is 6 then you know this is not the first time this had happened.
Screw them both. I hope they rot.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft!

I wouldn't worry about the two of them to much, where they will end up, heat is the one thing in great supply.
