    Scars on the forehead eh?

Read a comment awhile back about the ability to tell people who own a 45-70 handgun by the marks on their forehead.

Well could not find any proof of that, however found some evidence concerning the S&W 500. (S&W=Short and Weak eh?)

    Haha - well not yet!!!

Just one small (hardly visible) mark from the classic scope contact - IIRC from a .375 rifle years ago.

    Been There.......Seen That

I saw this at the Rabbit Creek shooting range in Anchorage, AK, many years ago. A young soldier from Fort Richardson bought a .460 Weatherby Magnum rifle from the PX and had a 'scope mounted on it.

He was just proud as punch when he unloaded that rifle from its aluminum case, got settled in on the shooting bench, and touched off a round. The 'scope came back and whacked him in the eye, he fell off the chair screaming and bleeding like a stuck pig, and the rifle went in the dirt.

After we got the bleeding stopped, he picked up his rifle and made a hasty retreat. We never saw him again. Don't know what he did with the Weatherby.

And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

30-30 when I was about 10 or 11, just finished shooting dad's Marlin .22, then switched to the scoped Marlin 30-30. just a tad bit more recoil, huh. It didn't blead at least.

There'd be a lot less people with scope scars if they didn't use those silly see-through scope mounts. They position the scope too high to properly cheek the stock and the result is that the shooter crawls up on the scope.
