    Coulda bought 15 1911's

Today I officially put in my order for a huge diamond ring for the future mrs. incredipete. Shhh... don't tell her!

And, now I just have to decide when and how to pop the question!

Are we talking custom Colt's, or some discount clones.

Congrats on finding a woman worthery of giving such a special diamond.

Look at what she likes, then try to work it into that, if it's a hang out with some gal pals, make a scene, down on one knee in front of-em all.

I'm sure the ladies of DC will come along with some better ideas.

Since women get expensive diamonds for an engagement......How come guys don't get expensive firearms, boats, tools or cars?

If I were king I'd be the one getting an engagement present.

CONGRATULATIONS! I was in your shoes just over a year ago. I purchased an engagement ring last April, popped the question in May, and we were married in October (yes, we move quickly).

At first I too was thinking of all the 'other stuff' I could have purchased with the money I spent on the ring. Now I'm thinking that she's worth at least 10x the cost of that ring and I'm fortunate to have gotten off so easily. Best wishes to both of you!

As for popping the question--how about in a place that's been a favorite for both of you, or in the midst of an activity that you both have enjoyed sharing? No need to make a HUGE production out of it, but it is wise to keep in mind that this is a story she'll be telling for years to come. Make it a good one.

My wife's engagement ring was actually a keyring with the key to a new Harley on it. There was (and is) absolutely no doubt she would rather have that than anything she could wear on her finger! My kinda girl, but, of course, that's why I married her.

CZ'a are cheaper and look good too. Save the cash and get some of those 1911's.

Just kidding. I can see 5 years down the road when the thing goes in for an appraisal. Bad MOJO and possibly cause for a divorce.

Congrats on finding a woman worthy of 15 1911's.

Congratulations. That is one huge rock. Like Benthic said, it's a story she'll be telling for a while, find something special to both of you. Private is better for most people.
