New Scion Commercial mentions 'sheeple'
Hi Everybody!!
Has anybody seen this commerciial yet?
I can't really describe the commercial, just a bunch of sheeple running around and it was too bad that they weren't being chased by wolves. (The BG's (??) were driving the Scions!
)
I caught it tonight and did a double-take, looking up from my book and only catching part of it. Maybe I'm 'sheltered', but I'd never heard the term 'sheeple' outside the shooting community, much less in a TV commerical.
Doubt they had the concealed carry community in mind, but I couldn't help but equate the commercial to it.
(Scion is a division of Toyota.)
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

I understand where you're headed, Baby Hulk, and I expect many others here will too, but I don't think many other people unaware of this forum will "get" the connection....
I agree with unrequited...eww.

huh, I've never heard that anywhere else, either. So, the message is that driving a scion will make you a predator?

That's what the commerical looked like to me. Not one sheep dog mentioned, just sheep and monsters.

I haven't seen the commercial but I have a hard time thinking of a scion as a predetorial vehicle. They may be slightly more intimidating than a kia reo.

Looks to me like they are using the image of the Eloi and the Morlocks from The Time Machine, by H.G.Wells. I think they are tapping into the attitude that you must choose - either be a victim or a predator and trying to appeal to those young people who increasingly are choosing to be predators, whether through unethical practices at the job or business, dealing in interpersonal relationships 100% selfishly, or in actual violent crime.
Was this commercial actually aired?!?!

I dunno. I thought it was funny. Of course, I have been accused of having a dark sense of humor.

It's a pretty common term on many political boards like Free Republic and Red States etc. So is lemmings.

if i get this right, the point scion is trying to make is your just "inside" the box and typical. you need to be radical an original... so you need to buy their car! blah... seriously, sheeple or sheep have been referred to as any group that lets the mass decide; politics, religion, the herd follower; rather than the free thinker. ...the list goes on and on
