info. requested on paypal
Well, it looks like I am going to sell my Walther's and the buyers want paypal. How hard is paypal to use? Any gotchas? Any recommendations?
July 4th, 2007 07:10 PM
Not really any gotchas, some report that Paypal is not firearm friendly, but I haven't had any problems.
Somehting to think about is that paypal charges you for selling items, a percentage of the money you bring in to Paypal from a sale goes to them.
Standby and I'll try to find out how much $$ were talking about.
Also I am moving this to off topic seeing as how you are not selling anything in this thread.
Edited to add, Fee's vary on account type, up to 3%

I have used it before for paying. Now I am getting the "get verified" garbage. Why do they want my bank account? I knew there was a reason I disliked paypal.
Are all you verified and have paypal linked to one of your accounts?
I dislike the idea.

I am not verified, but I do tend to really like Paypal. As a user of it for many years,I have not had ONE problem with it. I have it linked to my credit cards, and my debit card.

Yes, I am a verified buyer/seller with an upgraded account, the link to your bank account is to transfer money from your Paypal sales to your bank, and to make sure you don't stiff them on purchases, you need to have a bank account prior to set up any credit card info IIRC.

Just don't put anything in the "notes" section that relates to firearms...they have been known to freeze accounts for sales of firearms and you won't be able to get at your money for a few months.

I buy gun related stuff on Ebay all the time & use Paypal.
Never any problems.
Do Not Pay Any Attention To Any E-mails That You Recieve From Paypal. I don't even open them. They are 90% FAKE.
If you suspect that there might be trouble with your account then just go directly to your Paypal account either directly from an Ebay page or by Google Searching Paypal.com & then make sure there is an httpS:// up there in your go bar.
Do not sign on to Paypal unless you are on a secure "sign on" page.
NEVER use a link provided in any E-mail to access your Paypal account.
Then you'll never have any problems.

Some report others have had problems. I've seen few people actually have problems directly. I never have had issues. It's one simple way to have someone "lock in" a deposit in a situation where I'm selling something. And the payment service need not know anything further than "$500 consulting services" is being exchanged. It's not their business.

So I upgraded to premium member (and it looks like 3% plus some fixed charge less than 1.00). I have it linked to a credit card.
When I do a transfer and somebody pays my paypal (how do they pay to my account?) how do I then withdraw the funds?
Thanks in advance for all the help (from a paypal newbie).

Just give them the email address that you use for paypal, or email them a request for payment.

Thanks for the help. I am mostly new to selling online (I've sold a few motorcycle accessory stuff earlier, but done by check or money order).
New to this paypal.
Again, thanks all!

More like 100% fake. Paypal will never send you an email asking you to login to their site or for any personal info. Always forward these to email@example.com(I think that is right, it has been a while.)
