Well, I guess I'm yet another step closer to having seen it all now....

    Interpreter Trouble Ends Sex-Abuse Case
    Published: 7/22/07, 4:06 PM EDT

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Charges against a man accused of raping and repeatedly molesting a 7-year-old girl have been dropped because the court took too long to find an interpreter fluent in his native West African language.

Montgomery County Circuit Judge Katherine D. Savage dismissed the nearly three-year-old case against Mahamu Kanneh last week, saying the delays had violated the Liberian immigrant's right to a speedy trial.

"This is one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make in a long time," Savage said from the bench Tuesday. She said she was mindful of "the gravity of this case and the community's concern about offenses of this type."

Interestingly, English is the official language of Liberia. We can't even get English to be the official language here. (Note: By "here" I mean the US - I know my Location is listed as Brazil...didn't want to confuse anyone.)

The very second that this maggot stepped out of the court house, he should have been escorted OUT OF THIS COUNTRY and taken back to his native country where he could "effectively communicate."
Or would it have been against his rights? Why do immigrants have more rights than 7 year old girls?

Having lived for many years in Montgomery County, this idiocy does not surprise me at all.

The college he attended has mandatory english placement testing.

The official language of the nation he came here from is....

    English.

This story is par for the course in Montgomery County, where coddling criminals is the norm.

I feel bad for the victim - first, she is the victim of this pedophile, then she gets victimized by Judge Savage.

I'm not so sure he'll make it that far outside anyway...IF the surrounding area has been watching the news that is and IF they have young kids of their own. Not advocating illegal activities...just saying what goes around, eventually comes around. He may well get what's coming anyway.

This is taking PC way too far. I hope that Judge is up for re-election soon and that the people of Rockville remember this!

That is if they were not coddled into becoming the perfect sheep that the government wants them to be.

If he went to prision his life probably would of been over. Even criminals have a code of ethics. However unless he is deported most likey he won't even have to register himself as a sex offender. Since the case was dropped.
Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Since when does an immigrant from an English speaking country require a ________ interpreter? This judge deserves a review of her peers and an opportunity to be disbarred.

I just can't believe what this country has become, criminals and illegal immigrants get rights and government benefits while law abiding citizens get victimized TWICE!
