    A Creepy History Lesson...

    Kinda weird condescendences...don't you think!

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

    Now it gets really weird.

    Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
    Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

    Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

    And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Dark Helmet: Before you die there is something you should know about us, Lone Starr.

    Lone Starr: What?

    Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.

Lone Starr: What's that make us?

Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing! Which is what you are about to become.

I had heard that one a long time ago and still puzzle over it when I hear it. That number of coincidences just sorta makes you wonder...

That came out not to long after Kennedy was killed. Some of us older folks can remember it being around before most of you youngin's were born.

    Just some updated info.
Lincoln did not have a secretary named Kennedy.

Booth was born in 1838 in Maryland.

Marilyn Monroe died a year before Kennedy was shot.

Was I the only one who heard Rick Moranis doing the Dark Helmet voice?

Kennedy was a Democrat, but not like Clinton. Kennedy deserves better than that. Are you trying to make that flame in Arlington go out?

Bloviating? I think that should be declared a vocabulary word of the day. Does that mean a "drunk liberal that drives bad and kills women"?

    From dictionary.com

    bloviate \BLOH-vee-ayt\, intransitive verb:
To speak or write at length in a pompous or boastful manner.

But in Ted Kennedys case it means a pompous ahole and a "drunk liberal that drives bad and kills women"?
