Dallas girl shot in backyard pool

09:02 PM CDT on Sunday, July 22, 2007

A 14-year-old was recovering Sunday night after she was shot in her own back yard.

The girl and her younger sister were swimming in a pool in the 2400 block of Lolita Drive when two shots were fired.

One bullet hit the girl in the back of the head. The victim, whose name was not available, was rushed to Baylor University Medical Center, where she was reported in stable condition.

The girl's sister told WFAA-TV that someone might have been hiding in the bushes.

Police said did not have any suspects.

Pool carry ain't gonna stop a bullet from hitting you. Best it might do is enable you to repel a pool-area invasion. But first, the guy's shot has to miss you and you have to have the opportunity to reach your gun. But if you're in the pool, condition white, and someone in hiding shoots at you, your pool carry is gonna be useless.

God, what is happening to our world?!

Unfortunately, becoming all too believable. I hope the victim recovers. Was she deliberately targeted or was it a random act/gang initiation...any information yet?

Nothing will protect you from an attack such as this. There are some places you are just not going to be carrying. No room in the speedo for that 1911 after all.
