Outside of my County Town, Bedford PA - is a large complex known as Bedford Springs. It was in its hayday a majestic place, visited by many including Presidents.

It fell into disrepair and probably around four years ago was looking like it'd fall down and never be anything again. That changed.

Thru investment of $120 mil (yep 120) .... it has been resurrected and some. It was recently re-opened after the extensive work and I biked down there to see first hand. It is indeed something else - majestic and now once more vital and in use. I discovered too that the company my son works for was involved as the Civil Engineer - as he put it - ''we all got our hands dirty on that one'' !

I suspect some of the large sum of money went into the creation of a short bypass road, which was cut thru huge quantities of rock, but also internally it has been remodelled in the flavor of the ''old days'' including a very fine swimming pool, five restaurants and accomodation for - forget - a lotta folks! Even the original golf course has been restored to early 1900's pattern - tho with green fees at over $200 - not for the likes of lil' ol' me LOL.

I am biased of course but regard this as not only a jewel in my county but, a jewel in Pennsylvania. I wish it huge success. The sun was very ''in-and-out'' so pics vary a bit.

Now there's a plan! I am led to believe that in fact one or maybe two of the eateries are not all that bad for price at all - I reckon they want to pull in folks from around and not kill trade by excessive costs.

Leaving aside golf course green fees ......... I heard also that the least expensive room was probably as low as $68 IIRC ......... and so really it seems it can cater for a spread of people.
