So, just sent my resume into Honda's Formula 1 Team...

Apparently the Judges and Honda at Silverstone were impressed with our entry and finish enough to send this email to all of our team:

    "Dear Primary Team Contact

One of our Partners, Honda Racing F1, was extremely impressed with the
high standard of entries at Silverstone. They are very keen to receive
CVs from your team so please distribute this email and encourage your
team members to send their CV to Kate Jones.

Opportunities do exist within the company so if you are interested in
pursuing a career in motorsport, this is your chance to work with one of
    the leading companies in F1!

    Kind regards

    Fiona"

Granted it won't do a darned thing for me since I haven't graduated yet, nor am I near it at all, but damn it's nice to have this on a resume. Maybe in 4 or 5 years though :-)

Looks promising - bit of nice Kudos too.

If that can be ''back burner'' for a while - it could be nice to follow up sometime.

All I did way back was what we called ''club'' racing but sure as heck I'd have loved to have progressed further.

Maybe you can land a summer internship type deal with them until you are ready for full-time employment. I know a couple people in science fields that have deals like this with their employers.

Paid internships are a wonderful thing. If you can wangle that, it's a great way to get to know each other. You get experience; they get good labor on the cheap; you both get to know about the others' skills. If you go with them for a season, it will lengthen your graduation, sure, but you'll pop out with the sheepskin and experience. Hard to beat that.

Co-ops are actually mandatory with UC's ME program, which is why it's 5 years long. I'll take the extra year and 40-60K average to put into my tuition than a year early, no real world experiance, and a lot more debt.

Be pretty neat if I landed something like this pre-junior or junior year.
